- Alt. not.: oligomeric proanthocyanidins, grape seed extract
The OPC grape seed extract (abbreviation for oligomeric proanthocyanidins) describes a group of secondary plant substances with antioxidant effect. Oligomers are molecules which are built out of several identical or similar units. In the case of OPC, it is a molecular chain of both catechins and epicatechins (group of polyphenols).
Presence of grape seed extract
A high OPC content is found especially in leaves, fruit skins of peanuts, grapes and red berries as well as in barks. But the substance is also present in almost every plant. Plants need the positive properties to protect themselves from external dangers, such as UV rays and predators. This polyphenol is also contained in green tea and cacao.
The antioxidant effect for humans
OPC grape seed extract has antioxidant properties, catches free radicals and protects cells. Thus, the substance acts as a true shield from the environment. Among other things, the plant substance supports the human body in the following processes:
- Protection against UV radiation
- Anti-aging effect
- Support of the immune system and anti-inflammatory effect
- Formation of antioxidants for environmental toxins, drugs and alcohol
Plant antioxidants ensure that the human body remains vital and protects it from free radicals and negative environmental influences. If no neutralization and counteraction takes place, the human metabolic processes can be affected. Prevention is therefore one of the most effective methods!
The challenge of absorption
This nutrient cannot be produced independently by the human organism. In addition, the grape seed extract is poorly absorbed by the organism due to its composition (mixture of different long chains)! Therefore, attention should be paid to a sufficient supply through a balanced diet and secondly, experts recommend taking dietary supplements as a preventive measure.
The solution for assured absorption: liposomes
To ensure the absorption of the powerful antioxidant, we encapsulate the active ingredient in liposomes. In this way, the bioavailability can be significantly increased and the desired effect can be achieved. The liposomal product from ActiNovo contains a dosage of 200 mg per 10 ml daily dose and is also vegan, easily tolerated and allergen-free!

At ActiNovo, we are as excited about the potential of natural active ingredients as we are about the possibilities of modern technology. That's why we combine both into highly effective liposomal food supplements. Our solution: liposomes
You can think of liposomes as small (lipid) vesicles made of the same substance as our human cell membrane. And this is exactly where the special feature lies: if you encapsulate fat-soluble and water-soluble vital substances (such as vitamins) with liposomal technology, the encapsulated active substance is not regarded as a "foreign body" by the human organism, but is passed directly into the bloodstream without any losses. The encapsulated vital substance can be completely absorbed by the intestinal and digestive tract and fuse with the human cell membrane. The liposomes also act as a protective shell that enables the nutrients to pass through the body at a high absorption rate and develop their effect. Destruction by gastric acid or degradation by enzymes before the actual absorption is thus prevented. With our liposomal ActiNovo products you can achieve a higher bioavailability and effect than with conventional food supplements.
But what is bioavailability?
From a scientific point of view, bioavailability describes the proportion of a nutrient that is actually absorbed by the human organism after ingestion and enters the bloodstream. Vitamins, minerals but also plant substances influence each other and are not equally absorbed by the body. Depending on the age and intestinal health of the person, they develop different strengths of effect.Instead of taking an unnecessarily excessive dose of vital substances, it makes more sense to focus on quality instead of quantity. In order for our body to be able to fully utilize the nutrients, natural and pure active substances are needed that are comparatively well suited to our body's own enzymes. Due to the encapsulation of the nutrient in liposomes, the vital substance travels via the intestine directly into the blood and is there fully available to the body!
